Fremont Club Block Party: Linda Bertuzzi announced to the Club Las Vegas Fremont Rotary will conduct its 5th Annual Block Party on Thursday, April 23rd.  $65 will get you in the door, along with 2 drink tickets. It promises to be an evening of fun and celebration - not to mention an important opportunity to support this year's charities - The Downtown Rotary Charitable Fund, JDRF, Down Syndrome and Alzheimer's through silent and live auctions, as well as a 50/50 raffle. Feed The Homeless: Tom Martin announced that Feed the Homeless will be the the last Wednesday this month (April 29). He asked that those who plan to volunteer be on site by 5:30 p.m. as food is served at 6 p.m. Christ Episcopal Church at 2000 South Maryland Parkway. A sign-up sheet can be found in the book.

District Conference Hospitality Suite: Josh Satterlee put out a request to Club members to help staff a hospitality suite at Green Valley Ranch during District Conference May 15 before and after dinner. A sign-up will be placed in the book.

Dan Stover Regional Competition: Mitchell Horst announced that this year's Dan Stover Regional Competition will be held April 26 at Anthem Country Club. A sign-up sheet will be placed in the book.

Cinco De Mayo Fiesta: The Club was reminded that Joanne Blystone will be hosting a Cinco De Mayo party on May 2nd at her home. A sign-up can be found in the book or you can email Joanne at

Bob Hope (Bill Johnson)

Bob Hope made his way to Las Vegas Southwest Rotary Club, entertaining the Club prior to the Past Presidents were recognized for their time of service and recounted past exploits.

Past Presidents

Josh Satterlee picked on a number of Past Presidents in attendance including those who served the furthest back in history. Highlights from the afternoon include the following:

Fred Kennedy, 1977, recounted the establishment of the Gold Raffle which remains the Club's primary fundraiser.

Howdy Wells, 1981, enjoyed the Death Valley outings up until the Club was no longer welcome in Death Valley and remembers going to Sao Palo for International Conference.

Vern Ratzlaff, 1983, proceeded Jack Woodcock (who recounted everyone getting food poisoning) said he remember's Jack's debunking above all things.

Charlie Mack, 1989, said that he most remembered the "I Survived Charlie" t-shirts and the induction of Joanne Blystone, the Club's first woman inductee.

Bruce Pope, Tom Martin, Bryan Dziadziek, Rich Bowler, Dee Paul, Doug Beckley and Gary Chase all gave testimony to the establishment of Happy Feet, Greenspokes and how supportive their boards and the Club were of their efforts.
