John Grady,
Board Member, Goodwill Industries of Southern Nevada

John Grady, moved to Las Vegas in 1978 from Boston, Massachusetts.

John worked for national insurance carriers for over 27 years in New York City, Philadelphia and Boston, before making the move out West.

He has an extensive background in the design and delivery of benefits programs for national carriers, third party administrators, HMOs and multi-state employers.

In 1999, John opened Grady & Associates, an Employee Benefits Consulting firm which he operated for 11 years before selling the business to Wells Fargo Insurance Services. John currently performs consulting services through his new company, G & L Insurance Services.

John is past-Chairman of Crime stoppers as well as past- President of the Nevada Health Underwriters Association.

Goodwill Industries of Southern Nevada is John’s chosen charity and he devotes his energy to helping Goodwill achieve its goals through his work on the Board of Directors since 2006. John currently serves as Vice Chair of Goodwill’s Board of Directors.

John has many passions, including, but not limited to, golf, fitness, singing and dancing. John is married to Liza C. Smith and has two sons and a beautiful granddaughter, Skye.

Announcements:

Football Squares: Eric Colvin announced the winners of the Sunday night football pool. The LV Southwest Club one the final and Brian Shoemaker won the halftime score.

Rotary Shirts: Eric Colvin also announced that Rotary shirts are being selected and showed the samples that he had brought to the meeting. Need to order by 10/1/16.

Andy Katz Memorial Golf Tournament: Eric Colvin also announced that the Andy Katz Memorial Golf Tournament will be on 10/27/16 at Rhodes Ranch with proceeds to to to UNLV scholarships as Andy was a big UNLV fan.

Summerlin Wine Harvest: Fred Fukumoto reminded the Club that the Summerlin Club has their annual Wine Harvest where they sell raffle tickets for 50, 30 or 20 bottles of wine as a prize. Fred encouraged the Club to participate.

Boys & Girls Club Boy's and Girls Night Out: Aric Graham announced that this year's Boy's Night Out will be October 6th and Girl's Night Out will be October 8. We had a number of members participate last year and we hope to have a number participate.

Recognitions:

Scott Baranoff - Scott was busy in recent weeks getting his two kids back to college, one back in Glasgow and the other at UCLA. He was assessed $100 for his exciting

Clinton Pope - Clinton was assessed $50 after he gave a sob story about trying to sell his downtown house and having to stay there for two weeks after installing new pool equipment once the original equipment was stollen.

Ted Henderson, Club Foundation Chair

Ted Henderson presented the ins-and-outs of Rotary Foundation, all that it does around the world as well as the different giving channels including Paul Harris Fellowships.
